Results from the survey of American Express, Sears and the National Retail Federation (NRF) indicated that in the upcoming "Month of Love", high jewelry sales would be the new trends of the market. Jewelry is being rightly anticipated as highly desirable spend on gift with other options such as flowers, chocolates and garments. This is in line with the survey findings which revealed that 18.9 percent of people will prefer to purchase jewelry this year, 13.3 percent will spend on gift cards, 36 percent of people will choose flowers and 35.6 percent will opt for spending on their special evening. The total spending on jewelry is expected to amass USD 4.1 Billion this season, as compared to USD 3.5 Billion in the last year. Collections for gift cards are expected to be USD 1.1 Billion, USD 1.8 Billion from flowers and USD 3.5 Billion from the Evening Night Out. These high sales of jewelry correctly connect with the outcome of the survey that highest number of women would opt for jewelry if they were allowed to choose only one gift. The sentiment behind preferring jewelry is that it is the perfect expression of reassurance of love being lasting forever.

I'm not terribly often in the position to buy jewelry but when I am, I find it engrosses me in a feeling of appreciation…for my body…for who I am as a person…how I feel about myself…and what my passions are in life. After all, jewelry is an adornment, and this can truly reflect qualities about ourselves. For example, I spotted a necklace once that really inspired my love of Arthurian legends. The fact that this was while I was in England also made a difference, because I knew that having the necklace would also be something concrete that I could continue to enjoy from my experience there. I loved the design in and of itself, too, so it also reflected my particular artistic sensibility. I find that the moment of admiring, and contemplating the purchase of, a piece of jewelry is a wonderful moment to take a step back from the hectic pace of life and really see how the piece makes me feel and what it may represent about me. This way, I'm also more likely to acquire pieces that I'll love to wear for a long time. This perspective can help build a wonderful collection, with meaningful pieces, and ensure not just winding up with a bunch of stuff, as can sometimes happen.

The bridal jewelry trends this year indicate a deviation from the traditional white diamonds and pearls for bridal jewelry, instead young brides are opting for stones with rich colors that compliment the bridesmaids' dresses or the wedding theme. The bridal jewelry trends show a preference for layered necklaces. The cuff bracelet is another hot bridal jewelry trend that looks elegant and modern. Organic and whimsical themes with natural and feminine designs are a big hit in the bridal jewelry scene today. Such pieces of bridal jewelry have become increasingly popular and there are a varied number of designs with natural shapes and textures available for the bride to choose from. A wedding is symbolic of the love between the bride and groom, bridal jewelry too is incorporating this symbolism.
